Leo A. Hazlewood

Director Emeritus

Leo Hazlewood provides consulting services through Old Guy’s Wisdom, LLC.

Before starting Old Guy’s Wisdom, from March 2000 through August 2011, he worked at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) variously as Corporate Vice President and Director for Intelligence Programs in the Space, Intelligence and Information Sector, as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Mission Integration Business Unit in SAIC’s Intelligence, Security and Technology Group, and as Senior Vice President and Director of SAIC’s Shared Services Center.

In his last assignment with SAIC, Hazlewood managed and led SAIC’s new Shared Services Center in Oak Ridge, TN, Huntsville, AL, and Tucson, AZ. In that role, he directed SAIC’s “back office” support organization, providing a range of HR, finance, procurement, and security shared services to SAIC’s US-based workforce. Under Hazlewood’s leadership, the Shared Services Center reduced service costs to 30 percent below that of its predecessor organizations, reduced cycle times, and improved customer satisfaction.

Before joining SAIC, Mr. Hazlewood had a 23-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency. On detail from CIA, he served as the first Deputy Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (then the National Imagery and Mapping Agency). In that position, he was responsible for attempting to unify NGA’s capabilities in imagery, imagery intelligence and geospatial information. Before his assignment to NGA, Mr. Hazlewood served in a number of senior positions at CIA, including Comptroller (now re-named CFO); Director, National Photographic Interpretation Center (NPIC); Executive Director (now re-named Associate Deputy Director); and Deputy Director for Administration (now re-named Director of Support). He retired from CIA in March 2000.

Mr. Hazlewood is a board member of several organizations of national security professionals, including the US Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) and the National Intelligence Education Foundation (NIEF). He is an emeritus member of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) Board of Directors.

He received his AB from Georgetown University, an AM from the University of Illinois (Urbana), and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
