Summary
The Photogrammetric Technician will be responsible for satellite and aerial triangulation as well as other processing of satellite and aerial digital data into a variety of value-added products. This position will assist in the implementation of a custom process and workflow to build highly-accurate digital mapping products from DigitalGlobe imagery and other commercially-available imagery obtained from satellite and aerial sensors. The Photogrammetric Technician will perform triangulation in the SOCET SET environment, including tie-point and ground control point measurement, blunder detection, and evaluation of adjustment reports. Other production mapping tasks will be performed from time to time, including digital ortho map production, stereo compilation, digital elevation data generation, and quality control. Following implementation of the initial custom production workflow, this position will maintain production operation, improve efficiency, identify areas where automation can be improved, and transfer knowledge of the most desirable production workflow to internal DG software developers.
- This opportunity is a contract-based position with an expected duration of 1 year.
Responsibilities
- Set up triangulation workflow, including image ordering, point measurement, triangulation, and quality control. The initial desired workflow will be based on software vendor documentation and meetings with the software developer.
- Assist in developing processing procedures and methods, production workflow documents, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist in developing quick workarounds for software and hardware problems in order to keep the production line operating.
- Perform the custom triangulations.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and problems that can arise from application software, hardware configuration, production procedures, and QA methods.
- Work with a DigitalGlobe software engineer to automate the production workflow, and recommend software and workflow changes for an eventual port of the software to high-performance production environment.
Required Skills
This person must possess a strong client focus and have the following experience:
- Three years of work experience in other areas of photogrammetry, geodesy, remote sensing, or GIS
- A strong working knowledge of SOCET SET is required with a minimum of two years of production experience performing triangulation using SOCET SET.
- Experience with other photogrammetric, image processing, and GIS software, such as, ERDAS Imagine, PCI Geomatica, ENVI, Orthovista, or ArcGIS is desirable.
- A Bachelors Degree or higher in Photogrammetry, Geodesy, Remote Sensing, Geography, or related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
- It is desirable that the candidate be eligible for a Secret clearance.
