SUMMARY:
Envitia specialises in the development of Geospatial software systems for handling dynamic and spatial data across all areas of Federal Government and other industry verticals in applications that include Mission Planning, Mission Support and Command and Control. Envitia Inc Sales Team sells both licences and services to deliver and support MapLink Pro, SDMS (Spatial Data Management system) and MapRite and further provides supporting services to VAR’s world-wide for demanding geospatial applications such as command and control and mission planning.
The primary role for the Software Applications Engineer will be to support the sales team in achieving success by providing professional and technical levels of support in the USA and Canada.
MAIN PURPOSE:
1. To provide technical sales support, training and consultancy services, including application development/prototyping and demonstrations to potential and existing customers in support of sales of Envitia’s products and services.
2. The role will involve significant travel across the USA and Canada, sometimes at short notice, as well as an occasional requirement for some international travel.
3. Whilst priority will always be given to direct support of sales activities, participation in engineering project work will also be required from time to time in order to share experience with other technical staff and help deal with fluctuations in workload.
DUTIES:
1. Support both technical & non-technical clients at all levels of seniority, in order to establish confidence in all areas of Envitia specialist expertise and to enhance Envitia’s reputation.
2. Support the sales team with custom demonstrations and technical level presentations.
3. Provide technical input and guidance for RFP’s and other customer bids.
4. Provide technical input and guidance in support of partner bids.
5. Provide software system requirement analysis for clients and prepare written reports and proposals with technical and marketing support where necessary.
6. In conjunction with the client, design write & test programs to a defined user requirement for a specific application area and demonstrate the application to the clients’ satisfaction.
7. Installation & post installation activities which might include advisory work, plans, consultancy, development and support for customers.
8. Provide internal analysis and intelligence reports on prospects’ existing technology and competitor solutions.
9. Ensure that client technical queries are actioned & completed to the satisfaction of the client & Envitia operating procedures.
10. Prepare, provide and assess training courses and workshop sessions to groups of technical and/or non-technical people including presentations and hands-on instruction.
11. Provide support in understanding competitive products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maximise business opportunities for the company through provision of technical services and maintaining commercial accounts.
2. Maintain a detailed technical understanding of company’s products and services.
3. Take proper care of all Company assets entrusted to your care including laptops, mobiles etc.
4. Assist with maintenance of an accurate customer database.
PARTICULAR SKILL REQUIRED:
1. Must have good presentation and inter-personal skills.
2. Must be able to produce working technical solutions from customer technical requirements. Training in Envitia technology will be provided.
3. Must have expertise in C++ and object-oriented design.
4. Knowledge of .NET, Visual Studio and C# would be advantageous.
5. Knowledge of JAVA and J2EE and / or willingness to learn and apply JAVA and J2EE is highly desirable.
6. An understanding of OGC standards is desirable. The ability to achieve that understanding is essential.
7. Knowledge of wider North American geospatial industry is desirable.
8. Must have the ability to plan & Estimate own work competently. Carry out work with minimal supervision after setting of priorities.
9. Demonstrate adaptability and versatility in handling clients’ technical needs and be able to assimilate new material & requirements quickly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years related experience.
WORK LOCATION:
• Reston, Virginia.
• Regular travel required in the USA and Canada.
• Required to travel occasionally outside the USA particularly the UK.
