Top Intelligence and Military Leaders to Speak at GEOINT 2006

Herndon, Va. — The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) today announced two high-ranking intelligence community professionals and two prominent military leaders have committed to speak at the GEOINT 2006 Symposium, to be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., November 13-16.

U.S. Army Gen. Bryan “Doug” Brown, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Michael Wooley, commander of Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), have accepted invitations to deliver keynote addresses. In addition, Dr. Donald M. Kerr, director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the Honorable Douglas Naquin, director of the Open Source Center, a facility under the auspices of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), accepted invitations to speak at the symposium.

“We are most humbled and honored that these great leaders will share with our select audience their insight, experiences and vision as it relates to geospatial intelligence,” said K. Stuart Shea, USGIF president and chairman of the board of directors. “Their inclusion in the extensive lineup of keynote presenters and panel participants at GEOINT 2006 further strengthens not only this symposium, but also the community.”

With the theme “Harness the Power: Actionable Intelligence in a Changing World,” GEOINT 2006 participants will address critical issues such as public policy and challenges affecting geospatial technologies and the community, research and development progress, the role of open-source information in the intelligence community, the potential of interoperable technologies and solutions, the expanding use of geospatial tools by special operations forces and the military as a whole, applications in homeland defense and security, and a look at the international geospatial capabilities.

GEOINT also offers a number of special events, including an opening night reception, Allder Golf Classic, GEOWalk Hospitality Night, and a Hall of Fame Dinner and Awards Ceremony. This rich balance of educational sessions, compelling speakers, and opportunities for networking sets GEOINT apart from other exhibitions and conferences and truly makes it the nation’s premier geospatial intelligence event.
