NGA and USGIF to Showcase Emerging Technologies

April 25, 2006

Herndon, VA — The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) announced today that the 2nd Annual GEOINT Tech Days will highlight cutting-edge, geospatial-intelligence technologies and demonstrate the ability of USGIF members to meet today’s operational security and
response challenges.

NGA will host the classified NGA Technology Day at its Bethesda Headquarters on Thursday, May 11, 2006. The unclassified USGIF Industry Technology Day will follow on
Friday, May 12, 2006 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. USGIF Industry Technology Day will also feature a real-time interoperability demonstration where users
discover, access and exploit data from a wide variety of services in various formats from all around the world.

“In its second year, the GEOINT Tech Days remains an interactive and innovative forum for sharing best practices across the geospatial intelligence field,” said Lt. Gen. James R. Clapper Jr., USAF (Ret.), Director, NGA. “The 2006 GEOINT Tech Days will showcase government and industry technologies and capabilities that have supported Hurricane
Katrina disaster relief and recovery operations and other critical national and international missions.”

Co-sponsored by NGA and USGIF, Tech Days provides an exclusive opportunity for USGIF members to interact with the NGA workforce and network with other government, industry and military leaders without competing with symposium speakers or other agendas.

With more available exhibitor space than last year, this year’s GEOINT Tech Days expects to draw over 500 attendees from across the industry and government to review, discuss and
learn about more than 75 exhibitors’ technologies.

“The Foundation is very excited to again co-sponsor Tech Days with NGA and build upon the great success of last year’s event to further promote the geospatial-intelligence tradecraft,” said K. Stuart Shea, USGIF Chairman of the Board. “Tech Days provides a forum for NGA and USGIF members to underscore the commitment to provide innovative solutions to modern intelligence challenges.”

Tech Days is a milestone event leading up to the Foundation’s cornerstone GEOINT Symposium. This year, the annual symposium will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla., November 13-16, 2006. More than 2,500 participants are expected to attend.

USGIF is a Virginia-based, nonstock, not-for-profit corporation. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting the geospatial intelligence tradecraft and developing a stronger
community of interest between government, industry, academic and professional organizations and individuals who share a mission focus around the development and application of geospatial intelligence data and geo-processing resources to address national security objectives.
