October 25, 2007
Herndon, Va. – The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) wrapped up its fourth annual GEOINT Symposium in San Antonio this week with a record number of attendees, exhibitors and high-level speakers who addressed the audience.
“We are extremely pleased with the positive feedback we’ve received from GEOINT 2007 participants,” said K. Stuart Shea, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We were privileged to have the group of keynote speakers, emcees, panelists and moderators we had this year and are thankful for their support as well as the entire community’s.”
This year’s conference hosted 3,265 participants as well as 100 foreign delegates from 19 different countries, who had an exclusive opportunity to explore an exhibit hall of more than 100,000 square feet containing technology solutions and capabilities from 172 organizations.
Thirteen keynote speakers and almost 50 leaders from the community lead the audience through presentations focused on this year’s theme, “Integration for Collaboration: Enabling a Seamless Enterprise.”
The keynotes and panel discussions touched on this theme as it related to supporting national security during five half-day blocks of times focused on supporting the warfighter, analytical transformation, GEOINT as the foundation for the seamless enterprise, the use of foreign and domestic intelligence and advanced geospatial intelligence.
Keynote speakers included Mr. Charles E. Allen, Gen. James E. Cartwright, Maj. Gen. Michael E. Ennis, Mr. Bran Ferren, Maj. Gen. Russel L. Honoré, Dr. Donald Kerr, Maj. Gen. John C. Koziol, Lt. Gen. Michael D. Maples, Vice Adm. Robert B. Murrett, Ambassador Dennis Richardson, Maj. Gen. John T. “Tom” Sheridan, Dr. Tony Tether, and a keynote speech by the Honorable James R. Clapper Jr. at the USGIF Hall of Fame Dinner concluding the event.
Even with the overwhelming success of this year’s symposium, for the five-year anniversary of the GEOINT Symposium, which takes place October 27-30 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., USGIF plans to improve upon the schedule and agenda to enhance the insightfulness, excitement and relevance for all symposium participants.
