Celebrating Earth Day with Moorefield Station Elementary

April 14, 2017

In honor of Earth Day, USGIF and Esri are teaming up April 21 to introduce a mapping activity with classrooms at Moorefield Station Elementary School in Ashburn, Va.

Third and fifth grade students will get to explore Esri’s ArcGIS platform to ultimately create a Story Map with their class. Each classroom will examine different issues in the community to include population, food, health and fitness, economic status, and more. The activity is meant for students to learn to gather data, create a map, and draw conclusions in order to make informed decisions.

Not only will the students gain valuable skills in GEOINT, they will also help make a difference in their community in time for Earth Day.
