January 22, 2008

Herndon, Va. — Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell, Director of the National Security Agency U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Keith Alexander and Director of the National Reconnaissance Office Scott Large will deliver keynote addresses at the GEOINT 2008 Symposium, the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) announced today.

The three distinguished Intelligence Community leaders will address an expected audience of more than 3,000 when the GEOINT Symposium celebrates its 5-year anniversary Oct. 27-30, 2008, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

“Having the Director of National Intelligence and the directors of NRO and NSA address our audience is a great honor and benefit to the community at large,” said USGIF President and Chairman Stu Shea. “Their presence on the stage further solidifies USGIF and the GEOINT Symposium as the key voice in the national security community.”

The annual GEOINT Symposium, produced by USGIF, is the nation’s premier intelligence event. Through the myriad keynote addresses, panel presentations, workshops and social events, attendees network with colleagues and forge new relationships, learn from senior representatives in the Defense and Intelligence communities, and discover the latest technologies and solutions.

Last year, GEOINT 2007 provided 3,265 participants—including 100 foreign delegates from 19 different countries—an exclusive opportunity to explore the technology solutions and capabilities from 172 organizations as well as hear from 13 keynote speakers and almost 50 other leaders from the community. Those leaders included Gen. James Cartwright, Maj. Gen. Michael Ennis, Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, Dr. Donald Kerr, Maj. Gen. Craig Koziol, Lt. Gen. Michael Maples, Vice Adm. Robert Murrett, Ambassador Dennis Richardson, Maj. Gen. Tom Sheridan, Dr. Tony Tether and a keynote speech by the Honorable James R. Clapper Jr. at the closing USGIF Hall of Fame Dinner.

Celebrating its fifth year, the GEOINT Symposium will draw on the success of past years and the strong support and participation from the Pentagon and the Intelligence Community in which it saw take the stage dignitaries including former DNI Ambassador John Negroponte, Deputy Undersecretary for Intelligence Lt. Gen. William Boykin, former Central Command Commander retired U.S. Army Gen. Anthony Zinni, Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Eric Olson and former DCI George Tenet.
In addition to the insightful keynote speakers, USGIF and the GEOINT 2008 Symposium offers a number of special events including an opening night welcome reception, the Allder Golf Classic, the GEOWalk Corporate Hospitality Night and the Lifetime Achievement Award presentation. It is this exceptional balance of educational sessions, compelling speakers and opportunities for networking that sets the GEOINT Symposium apart from other events.
