Conflating New Vector Data into Legacy Data Layers

How do you add and connect new map features to legacy geospatial data layers without damaging the geometry or attributes of baseline data? This is the challenge of the conflation process for vector geospatial data. This course will introduce the issues and potential solutions involved with fusing datasets which may have been created at different times and with different levels of precision. Using OGC Web Services to Harness the Power of IoT Data

The students will use Hexagon’s Luciad Platform to learn key concepts and techniques. The Platform is provided both as an end-user product usable out-of-the-box and as a software development kit including a customizable REST API. Out-of-the box, the solution supports over 200 geospatial data formats including point clouds and reality 3D meshes. With just a few clicks, data can be discovered, cataloged, combined into a product, and published as OGC web services. 3D Reconstruction from Overhead Imagery using Open Source Software

Geospatial 3D models of buildings and terrain are a critical asset to the GEOINT community. However, acquiring such models has historically been costly, requiring either labor intensive manual modeling or expensive active scanners like LiDAR. Over the past fifteen years there has been a shift toward automated 3D model generation from passive sensors including UAS video and satellite imagery, each of which allow data collection over broader areas at a lower cost. In this session we will give a brief introduction to 3D reconstruction from images and describe the terminology and common stages of processing. We will explain how data collection parameters impact model quality. We will survey available software packages. We Will conclude with a live demonstration of the open source TeleSculptor application for extracting 3D from full motion video (FMV). Read full overview.
