About the Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Workshop

USGIF and its Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Working Group host this annual workshop as a way to discuss current challenges and strategic initiatives related to the role of AI, machine learning, cognitive computing, and deep learning in GEOINT. This year’s programming features a variety of leading experts from DIA, NGA, NRO, ODNI, OUSD, and industry. Join us to explore how these rapidly evolving and disruptive technologies are advancing the GEOINT tradecraft.

Nov. 19 – UNCLASSIFIED

Better Together: Humans Teaming with AI/ML

Tuesday, Nov. 19
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This unclassified day is packed with keynotes, panel discussions, industry flash talks, networking, and exhibits. Hear from Lt. Gen. Robert P. Ashley, Jr., Director, DIA; and Gregory Christ, Director for ISR Operations, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.

Panel topics will include modeling and data visualization, and the agenda will also feature a discussion of complex data by DIA’s Terry Busch and insight into GEOINT Services by NGA’s Jim Long.

Additionally, ML/AI Workshop registrants will receive free registration to GEOINTeraction Tuesday taking place immediately following the workshop and just down the road at Embassy Suites Springfield. Join us and keep the conversation going when we hear from NGA Chief Data Scientist Dr. Andrew Brooks.

Exploring Tradecraft Advances and Needs through a Classified Lens

Wednesday, Nov. 20

This classified session will build upon topics from the previous day and feature keynotes, panel discussions, networking, and industry exhibits. Speakers will include Stacey Dixon, Ph.D., Deputy Director, NGA; Susan Durham, Ph.D., Director of Advanced Systems & Technology, NRO; Dean Souleles, Chief Technical Advisor, ODNI; and Susan Kalweit, Director of Analysis, NGA.

This day requires a TS/SCI/FVEY clearance, which must be passed no later than Nov. 12 at 3pm EST.
