USGIF Accredited Schools Celebrating GIS Day Nov. 14

GIS Day annually celebrates how GIS makes a difference in our world. Many of USGIF’s Accredited GEOINT Certificate Programs will be celebrating the day on Wednesday, Nov. 14 or during Geography Awareness Week.

Here’s a list of the events happening next week:

Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, North Carolina
Events will include a poster competition, meet and greet with geospatial scientists and professionals, “Map My Campus” activity, and more.

George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia
GMU’s GIS Day event is themed around Geography and Data Science. The day brings poster displays, keynote and panel presentations, and exhibiting organizations from the D.C. area. USGIF will host a networking reception at Oh George, across the street from the campus from 4 to 6 p.m.

Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts
NU will host a series of presentations throughout the day to include those on “A Visual History of Boston through Maps,” “Spatial Storytelling in Urban Studies and History,” and “Visualizing Geo/Spatial Phenomena: A Spatial Cognition Perspective.”

Penn State University, State College, Pennsylvania
Penn State will feature a geospatial technology demo as well as lightning talks throughout the day from local organizations, students, and school departments.
