CAPT Haroun Isa, USN

Navy NGA Support Team Chief


CAPT Isa is assigned as the Chief, Navy National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Support Team (NST) where he leads a team providing geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) support to major Navy operational commands and deploying carrier strike and expeditionary readiness groups.

From July 2016 to December 2019 CAPT Isa served as the Deputy Director of Intelligence for U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

CAPT Isa’s previous operational tours include deployments with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Fourteen (HS-14) aboard the USS Ranger (CV 61) and USS Constellation (CV-64), U.S. Sixth Fleet aboard USS La Salle (AGF-3), Command of U.S. National Intelligence Cell Pristina, Kosovo, Deputy Director of an Inter-Agency Special Operations Task Force in Afghanistan and Director of the Resolute Support/U.S. Forces – Afghanistan ISR Capabilities Integration Cell in Kabul, Afghanistan.

His shore tours include Intelligence Officer for Commander, Naval Forces Korea (CNFK), Information Assurance (IA) Principal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Office of Naval Intelligence, Chief of Targeting for U.S. Special Operations Command, Chief of the Director’s Intelligence Action Group at U.S. European Command, Program Manager for Maritime Domain Awareness at Battlespace Awareness and Information Operations Program Office (PMW 120) and Program Manager for the Joint Deployable Intelligence Support System (JDISS) at the Office of Naval Intelligence.

CAPT Isa is a native of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and received a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Computer Science and Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh. He was commissioned through Aviation Officer Candidate School in 1992. He also graduated with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Scientific and Technical Intelligence.

In addition to various unit and campaign awards his personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal (2 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Joint Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), and Navy Achievement Medal.
