Professor of Geospatial Science and Intelligence
COL [Retired – US Army] Steven Fleming (Ph.D.) is a Professor of Geospatial Science and Intelligence with the Institute for Environmental and Spatial Analysis at the University of North Georgia where he teaches and researches in the field of geospatial intelligence, military geography, and the spatial sciences. From 2015-2022, he served as a Professor at the University of Southern California’s Spatial Sciences Institute and Institute for Creative Technologies. Prior to joining USC, he served on active duty for 30 years in the U.S. Army, fulfilling Joint and NATO duties on multiple deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He culminated his military career at the United States Military Academy where he was an Academy Professor of Geospatial Information Science. His research specialties focus on applications of geospatial technologies for national defense (military operations, homeland security, and disaster management).
