Wendy Walbrun

Deputy Director, GEOINT Advantage


Ms. Walbrun is the Deputy Director of GEOINT Advantage where she is responsible for leading agency efforts to achieve a GEOINT Advantage through the unique application of new capabilities and non-standard data sets.

Ms. Walbrun’s previous role was as NGA’s Strategy Implementation Lead where she drove agency efforts related to strategy implementation and worked to align capability development and programming to desired strategic outcomes.

From 2018 to 2021, Ms. Walbrun was the Deputy Chief of NGA-Asia Pacific, headquartered in Canberra, Australia. In that role, she led a diverse team of over thirty-five NGA civilian and contractor staff throughout the Asia Pacific to build and strengthen strategic GEOINT partnerships across the region.

Prior to that, she served in International Affairs as the Chief of Capabilities & Mission and then as the acting Senior Advisor where she drove international partnerships in support of national defense goals. Her portfolio included national disclosure and release of GEOINT, Foreign Military Sales, and International Policy. She managed the IC Remote Sensing Policy Committee and the NGA International Affairs Steering Group.

Ms. Walbrun has served with NGA for 19 years. From 2013-2015, she was the Chief of Naval Future Warfare Systems in GEOINT Enterprise, driving integration across Navy GEOINT systems. From 2009-2012, she served as the NGA liaison to Headquarters Navy as a subject matter expert for Navy ISR and GEOINT architectures. From 2007-2009, she served as the NGA liaison to US Fleet Forces. She also spent two years working as a Systems Engineer Manager in NGA’s IT Directorate as a contractor where she worked integration of new acquisition programs. Her first position with NGA was in the Office of Geospatial-Intelligence Management, writing doctrine.

Prior to her service with NGA, Ms. Walbrun served 12 years in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps as an Electronic Warfare Operator, an Arabic Linguist, a SIGINT Analyst, and All-Source Analyst.

Ms. Walbrun holds a Master’s of Science in Strategic Intelligence with a concentration in Western Mediterranean Studies from the National Intelligence University and a Master’s of Arts in International Relations-Arab Studies from St. Mary’s University. Ms. Walbrun is the recipient of the 2012 Sharon Parish leadership award and the 2013 Employee Role Model Award.
