Herndon, VA., August 5, 2024 – The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) is pleased to announce the call for Training Session submissions for the 2025 GEOINT Symposium, scheduled to take place in St. Louis, MO, from May 18-22, 2025.   

The Submission period is open from August 5 – September 13, 2024. 

What are Training Sessions? 

Training sessions take place during USGIF’s annual GEOINT Symposium. This is a unique opportunity for GEOINT subject matter experts to share their knowledge and educate attendees through one-hour training sessions focused on various aspects of GEOINT tradecraft, including applications, policy, technology, and methodologies.  

These sessions are designed to provide forward-thinking, cross-sectional training and are intended to be purely educational, avoiding commercial promotion. 

USGIF individual or organizational members may apply to present a training. Submissions imply a commitment to attend if selected. The GEOINT 2025 Symposium will take place in St. Louis, MO, May 18 – 22, 2025. 

While we allow specific organizational software, hardware, and tools for short case study demonstrations, presenters should limit organizational promotion to one introductory slide. We will reject all sales pitch presentations (more than one slide about the company and products). 

There are two training and education categories: 

1. Technology Agnostic: may include (but not limited to) policy, generalized technology, models, methodologies, and frameworks that can be interoperable among various systems. We will prioritize topics related to the Symposium theme, Building a Secure Tomorrow Together.
2. Hands-on training: skills-specific training in the latest commercial software and/or tools. 

 

How to Apply 

If you are interested in presenting a training session at GEOINT 2025, please follow this link and submit the 2025 Training Session Application. 

Applications will close September 13th, 2024. All submitters will be notified of their application status by mid-October. 

Next Steps 

An evaluation team consisting of USGIF staff and community volunteers will conduct a peer-review. The team will prioritize interesting and practical topics related to the Symposium’s main theme: Building a Secure Tomorrow Together. Training session topics can include, but are not limited to: 

• Machine learning applications in GEOINT 

• Case studies of AI in real-world scenarios 

• Hands-on workshop of software and conceptual analysis 

• Best practices in data visualization 

• Cloud computing solutions 

• And more! 

If selected, USGIF provides one complimentary registration per training. We expect any additional co-presenters to register individually or use organization-designated registration slots to participate in the event. Trainers will be responsible for their travel, housing, and any other expenses. USGIF cannot guarantee a specific timeslot for training sessions. We will provide additional instructions upon selection notification. 

We reserve the right to cancel any training session at any time. No-show training presenters or presenters who fail to provide adequate training materials for a full one-hour session will be disqualified from future GEOINT Training opportunities. 

Important notes: 

1. While we allow the inclusion of organizational team members in communication exchanges, we will only correspond with the designated instructor from start to end.
2. We will not provide the instructor or their organization with an attendee contact list. However, we allow instructors to circulate an attendance sheet or link for digital opt-ins during the training session.
3. We will only provide basic internet connection—presenters are responsible for finding other solutions to provide access to software and data and bring their own laptops. Please note in the training session description if attendees should bring their laptops.
