USGIF Announces New Leadership for Machine Learning & AI Working Group
Todd Jackson steps in as Chair, joined by Vice Chairs Dr. Amanda Fetch and Tim Klawa, as USGIF thanks outgoing leaders Chris Lauber and Kevin Green for their service.
The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) has named new leadership for its Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Working Group (MLAIWG), with Todd Jackson assuming the role of Chair and Dr. Amanda Fetch and Tim Klawa joining as Vice Chairs.
The MLAIWG brings together practitioners, technologists, academics, and mission owners to advance the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to problems of interest across the GEOINT community. The group meets on the third Thursday of every month and focuses on near-term hard problems where ML and AI can deliver impact, emerging capabilities that have yet to find wide adoption in the community, and the workforce training and development needs that accompany this rapidly evolving technology landscape.
Incoming Chair: Todd Jackson
Todd Jackson is a Senior Account Executive for Intelligence at ECS Federal, an Everforth company, where he leads go-to-market strategy, business-to-government growth, and account development across the U.S. national and defense intelligence enterprise. His work spans data and AI, cybersecurity, cloud and infrastructure, enterprise platforms, and digital engineering.
Before joining ECS Federal, Jackson held executive leadership positions across the U.S. defense and Intelligence Community, leading organizations responsible for advanced capabilities, research and engineering, and multi-domain intelligence supporting special missions, special operations, and joint and allied operations.
Incoming Vice Chair: Dr. Amanda Fetch
Dr. Amanda Fetch is an award-winning researcher in space situational awareness whose work applies machine learning, clustering metthodologies, and anomaly detection to orbital debris analysis. She brings more than 25 years of experience leading data science and AI initiatives across government, intelligence, and commercial sectors.
Dr. Fetch serves as a Board Director for the National Space Society and TMMi America and advises organizations on responsible AI strategy and technology governance. She is also a Program Leader and Learning Facilitator for MIT xPRO’s AI Strategy and Leadership and AI Product Development programs, where she works with senior executives on the responsible deployment of AI.
Incoming Vice Chair: Tim Klawa
Tim Klawa is a Public Sector Field Engineering Leader at NVIDIA, where he helps federal agencies and partners design and implement accelerated AI solutions.
Previously, Klawa served as Public Sector CTO at Groq, where he focused on large language model inference using the company’s LPU technology. His AI experience spans large-scale data management platforms, semiconductor manufacturing robotics, connected vehicle technologies, and smart city applications.
A Note of Thanks
USGIF extends its gratitude to outgoing Chair Chris Lauber, Vice President of Autonomous Systems at Cenith Innovations, and outgoing Vice Chair Kevin Green, Senior Solutions Architect at NVIDIA, for their leadership and service to the MLAIWG. Their contributions helped shape the working group’s direction and strengthen engagement around the application of machine learning and AI across the GEOINT community.
Get Involved
The MLAIWG welcomes members of the GEOINT community interested in contributing their expertise, learning from peers, and helping advance the application of AI and machine learning to GEOINT challenges.
