Call for GEOINT 2024 Symposium Lightning Talk Submissions

What are Lightning Talks?

Lightning Talks take place during USGIF’s annual GEOINT Symposium at the Innovation Hub, May 6 – 8. They are an opportunity to share with and educate colleagues on topics relevant to GEOINT. These 5-minute talks focus on one key point – this can be an idea, a successful project, a cautionary story, a collaborative program, a quick tip, or a demonstration. Lightning Talks are an opportunity for valuable information and creative ideas to get the attention they deserve. The clock will be ticking, so get prepared! We seek thought-provoking, high-energy topics that challenge attendees to think, learn, and evolve!

We invite USGIF Organizational Members, Individual Members, and Academic Partners/Accredited Schools to submit Lightning Talk proposals. We expect presenters to register for the GEOINT Symposium. Submissions imply a commitment to attend if selected. The 2024 GEOINT Symposium will take place in Kissimmee, FL, May 5 – 8, 2024.

We will not accept sales pitches and disregard them during the proposal review process.

A USGIF review committee will consider all proposals and accept a limited number for the event. The committee will prioritize interesting, creative, and practical ideas directly related to the Symposium’s main theme: Essential in All Domains and Dimensions. Lightning Talk concepts should add an important voice to the GEOINT community’s conversation, showcasing intelligent capabilities and innovation built upon theoretical and algorithmic foundations.

How to Apply

If you are interested in submitting a Lightning Talk proposal for USGIF’s 2024 Innovation Hub, please follow this link and fill out the 2024 Lightning Talk Application.

Applications will close February 9, 2024.

All submitters will be notified of their proposal’s status by the end of March 2024.

Next Steps

A USGIF-appointed committee will conduct a peer-review, select the most innovative proposals, and notify applicants of their decisions by Mid-March, 2024. If selected, you will be responsible for your Symposium registration, travel, and housing. USGIF cannot guarantee time slots for Lightning Talks. Applicants and selected presenters should be prepared to speak at any of the Innovation Hub time slots, May 6 – 7, 12:30 – 4:00 p.m. and May 8, 12 – 2 p.m. We will provide additional instructions upon selection notification
