Barry Tilton is the Technology Evangelist for the Strategic Growth Organization of Maxar Technologies in Virginia, where he is responsible for integration of advanced technology into the Maxar solution space. He has over 35 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer in the remote sensing field and is a Licensed Professional Engineer, and certified Project Management Professional.  Prior to the Maxar acquisition of Vricon last Summer, he was the CTO and Vice-President of Engineering for that company.  He is a 20 year veteran of the US Air Force, where he had over 1000 flight hours as a test director, and worked as a Chief Engineer, and Chief Scientist, and Program Director for Air Force Space Command, the NRO, NGA, SDIO (original precursor of the Missile Defense Agency) amongst others.  US Defense and State Departments as well as several international efforts with countries on five Continents.

Barry strongly believes in the crossflow of technology between industry, government and the civil sector through commonly set goals and standards, which he shepherds through his external activities – he Co-Chairs the USGIF Modeling, Simulation and Gaming Working Group, and has been a principal organizer of the GEOINT Foreward programs for the last several years.  He has Bachelor’s and Masters’ Degrees in Electrical Engineering. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and the AIAA, and a Fellow of the American Geographical Society.   He currently serves as the Director of IEEE and IEEE-USA Region 2, which covers the mid-Atlantic region.
