Lieutenant Colonel Kevin W. Matthews is the Army Geospatial Intelligence Battalion Commander. LTC Mathews previously served as the Deputy Division Chief for the J52 of the Joint Special Operations Command. Prior to serving at JSOC, he served as a Special Assistant to the EUCOM Commander/Supreme Allied Commander Europe. Other assignments as a Strategic Intelligence Officer include Branch Chief at SHAPE Survey, EUCOM; Fellow with the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Strategic Studies Group (SSG); Desk Officer for the Nordics, Baltics and Poland for the EUCOM J2 Intelligence Engagements Division; Warning Officer and Branch Chief in the Operations Intelligence Branch, EUCOM J2. As an Aviation Officer, he served as Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 159th Aviation brigade; Commander, C/4-101st Aviation Regiment; Military Transition Team (MiTT) Chief for 1/22/6 IN and 2/44/11 IN, Iraqi Army. 

LTC Matthews holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in Strategic Intelligence from National Intelligence University.

LTC Matthews is a native of Libertyville, IL, and is married to the former Grace Rodgers of Dexter, MI. They have three children together: Nora (11), Lizzie (9) and Jack (7).
