(USGIF) is pleased to announce its accreditation of the University of North Georgia (UNG), becoming the 19th university in the program. As one of only six Senior Military Colleges in the nation, UNG brings another robust undergraduate GEOINT Certificate Program to the USGIF’s consortium of accredited schools.

UNG’s GEOINT Certificate program, housed within the university’s interdisciplinary Lewis F. Rogers Institute for Environmental and Spatial Analysis (IESA), will foster environmental and geospatial interdisciplinary education with advanced technology and collaborative learning. The program includes academic areas such as spatial science, geography, surveying, engineering, and technology.

“UNG’s curriculum is well-rounded and sufficiently nested within the Essential Body of Knowledge (EBK) and supported by excellent faculty and additional lab space, approved as part of a new facility,” said Dr. Camelia Kantor, USGIF Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Most importantly, it has a strong leadership development program and the potential for a unique cross-departmental & campus collaboration between the Gainesville and Dahlonega campuses that will allow for great sharing of faculty expertise needed for a complex discipline such as GEOINT.”

UNG also has intelligence tools and techniques to develop geospatial intelligence skills to inform decision-making in security, disaster response, and humanitarian efforts. Students will find the flexibility to follow their passions while earning valuable, work-ready training through internships, community service, and research projects.

“It is an honor for UNG to receive accreditation of our undergraduate Geospatial Intelligence Certificate by USGIF. We look forward to a very productive relationship with the USGIF community, including GEOINT events, student scholarships, and expanded student career opportunities associated with an accredited program,” said H. Jeff Turk, Ph.D., Director & Professor of Engineering, UNG.
