The Young Professionals Working Group (YPWG) is dedicated to promoting, supporting, and encouraging active involvement in the Young Professionals Group (YPG). The YPWG guides the YPG by developing events, community projects, and activities for geospatial intelligence young professionals and encouraging their dynamic involvement and fresh perspective. The YPWG has successfully planned mentorship events, lightning talk sessions, youth outreach programs, coordinated panel sessions, developed workshops for career development, and engaged the next generation of geospatial intelligence leaders.

A collaborative atmosphere with other USGIF working groups helps the YPWG to better gauge the needs and wants within the GEOINT community. Additionally, a few times a year the YPWG leads a series of community service and fundraising events, such as working in a food kitchen to feed the homeless, donating to Toys for Tots, and planting trees.

About the Young Professionals Group

Developed in 2009, the USGIF Young Professionals Group (YPG) serves to unite junior GEOINT professionals within the Defense and Intelligence communities. This group, guided by the Young Professionals Working Group, offers events and programs that parallel the Foundation’s mission of advancing the geospatial intelligence tradecraft by utilizing the unique dynamics of our young professional membership based off of their needs and wants from this group.

The Young Professionals Group also holds two voting positions on the USGIF Board of Directors. These individuals serve for a two-year term and provide the Board with the perspective from a younger generation of GEOINT professionals.
