A paradigm shift is occurring in the satellite industry. Small satellites are maturing to offer agility, affordability, resiliency and high-resolution imagery. Simultaneously, national security leaders are examining the potential threats posed by adversaries to our legacy space-based assets.

Formerly the Small Satellite Working Group, the Commercial GEOINT Working Group (CGWG) educates and informs the global GEOINT Community on the rapidly evolving geospatial data and imagery capabilities in the commercial marketplace. The working groups seeks to collaborate and coordinate to enable Industry, Academia, and Government to better leverage these commercially available resources by developing better understanding of data available and the formats, standards, and use cases. Additionally, the group seeks to promote the efficient and affordable use of these data sources that optimize business models for producers and consumer of commercial GEOINT.
