The University of Maryland (College Park) Center for Geospatial Information Science is searching for a full-time (twelve month) lecturer for the Master of Science program in Geospatial Intelligence

The University of Maryland (College Park) Center for Geospatial Information Science is searching for a full-time (twelve month) lecturer for the Master of Science program in Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) http://geoint.umd.edu. This is a Professional Track teaching position in GEOINT and is expected to start in August 2021. The lecturer will be expected to teach in a 12-week term calendar https://svp.umd.edu/node/1961. Salary and benefits are highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  A PhD Degree in Geography or in a related area of spatial science is required. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated work or teaching experience in the domains of geospatial intelligence, geospatial data science, security and emergency management.

We are seeking candidates with a track record of practical applications or teaching in areas of geospatial intelligence, including geospatial science, imagery intelligence, networks and mobility, cyber security, AI and machine learning, etc. The teaching load consists of basic and advanced courses in GEOINT tailored to different disciplines or applications areas. Possible courses include, for example, fundamentals of GEOINT, imagery analytics; open source intelligence; disaster and risk management among other areas. The candidate would also advise and guide Master’s students with capstone projects that represent the culmination of their studies. In addition to teaching, the position would involve outreach to the geospatial intelligence community to help foster and maintain links between this community of professionals and our program.
