COVID-19 Safety Precautions

As excited as we are about gathering in-person for the first GEOINT Symposium since 2019, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way USGIF will conduct the GEOINT 2021 Symposium. As we plan for the Symposium, we are closely watching regional case and vaccination trends, current CDC guidelines and local St. Louis COVID-19 restrictions, the evolving understanding of COVID-19 and how it spreads, and our staff and attendees’ safety and comfort.

USGIF will be using DetectWise® for our COVID-19 health screening requirements. All event staff, venue employees, and event attendees must comply with the related requirements. This will include completing pre-event surveys, providing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test and temperature screening upon your first entry into the convention center and a temperature check for your subsequent entry to the Symposium itself. The DetectWise® system stores attendee information in a HIPAA-compliant, secure IT environment. We anticipate that the on-site authentication will take approximately two seconds per person, and staff will be on hand to assist with the process.

As part of our registration process this year, you are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of your first entry of the Event site.

To facilitate this, we have provided you with a link below to a site where you may upload the required documentation and complete a self-attestation survey.

Prior to your arrival, you may upload your COVID-19 vaccination card or proof of negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of your first arrival to the event through this link:

Upon successful completion, you will receive a QR code that you will be required to scan at the Parsons DetectWise® Kiosk when you first arrive at the Event site.

While we encourage you to complete the pre-event survey and submit your COVID-19 vaccination card or proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of your first arrival to the event before arrival to expedite entry, you have the option of taking the survey on-site and presenting your documentation to a representative for acceptance. Please note, this option will add time to your entry, therefore we recommend you use the above link and submit the required information in advance if possible.

Once your form is submitted, you will be directed to a new web page displaying a QR code, as well as receive an email containing the QR code at the email address you provided.

You will be required to scan this QR code at a DetectWise® Screening Kiosk when you arrive at the Event site and take a temperature reading. In addition, you will be required to pass a temperature check daily upon arrival at the event.

Entrance Policy

USGIF strongly encourages all attendees to get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  Attendees must provide one of the following to gain entry to the 2021 Symposium:

  1. Proof of full vaccination administered more than two weeks prior to first day of attendance OR
  2. Proof of a negative test within 48 hours prior to attending the event

USGIF will recognize and accept foreign COVID-19 vaccination or negative test documentation for those traveling from other countries.

Physical Distancing Policy

All events throughout the GEOINT Symposium, including the networking opportunities and training sessions, will have space for physical distancing.

We will incorporate means for all attendees to voluntarily indicate their level of comfort with social distancing using a red/yellow/green badge indicator. Regardless of whether a fellow attendee has indicated their level of comfort with closer contact, please seek consent before entering another person’s space and be respectful if asked to stay farther away.

Please be cognizant of the distance between yourself and others throughout the event.

Mask Policy

As of this posting, USGIF requires all individuals to wear a face covering that covers the nose and mouth while indoors regardless of individuals’ vaccination status, only to be removed when actively eating or drinking. This policy is consistent with the current City of St. Louis mandate. Attendees who do not comply will be asked to leave the Symposium and not permitted to return on subsequent days, and neither they nor their organizations will be refunded the cost of their registration.

Masks will be available at registration and throughout the exhibit hall.

Hand Hygiene

Hand sanitizer will be available at registration, throughout the convention center and in the exhibit hall. Please sanitize your hands before and after touching shared items.

Food and Drink

The Convention Center and its partners follow strict safety guidelines; you can read about it here.

Sick Policy

Attendees should not come to GEOINT Symposium events if they feel sick or show symptoms of illness.

Guidelines May Change

USGIF reserves the right to update these guidelines as necessary.

All event staff, venue employees and attendees will be required to follow the COVID-19 guidelines.

Subject to change: based on CDC and local authority guidelines.

The health and safety of our event attendees is our No. 1 priority. We will continue to monitor the virus and work with local authorities to remain in compliance and help safeguard all staff and attendees. To achieve this, we need your help:

  • We strongly recommend that all staff, venue employees, and attendees are fully vaccinated prior to the conference.
  • People who are not fully vaccinated are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival at the conference venue.
  • While in conference-controlled spaces (inclusive of off-site events) face coverings must be worn when not eating, drinking, or presenting.
  • Where possible, practice social distancing.
  • If at any time you do not feel well, please refrain from attending any event activities.
  • It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure safety and health during the event. If you see something that does not look right, please bring your concerns to a member of the organizing staff or venue personnel.
  • All event staff, venue employees, and event attendees will be required to comply with the following requirements. These requirements will be in place for the main conference venue as well as off-site venues.

All information stored in HIPAA compliant, secure cloud environment.

  • During the week leading up to the conference, each staff member, venue employee, and attendee will receive email with a link to a very brief COVID-specific survey.
  • All attendees will be required to complete and submit the survey. To expedite the on-site screening process, we ask that you please complete and submit the survey prior to your arrival at the conference.
  • Those who are fully vaccinated can submit the survey any time between receiving the survey link and arriving at GEOINT Symposium. Within this survey, you will be required to upload a copy of your vaccination card. Fully vaccinated people who do not wish to upload their vaccine card can fill out the survey on-site and show proof of vaccination to a representative.
  • Non-vaccinated people must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours prior to your first arrival at the conference venue. You will be required to take the survey on-site and either upload or show proof of a negative test.
  • People who submit a survey that does not identify risk will receive a black QR code. Please save this, as it will be used as your access credential when first entering the conference venue.
  • People who submit a survey that suggests risk will be contacted by DetectWise®.
  • There is a testing center located close to the conference venue. Information will be provided on request.

QR code authentication and temperature screen takes approximately 2 seconds.

  • Upon arrival at the venue for the first time, all staff, venue employees, and attendees will be required to register at a DetectWise® kiosk located at each entrance. Individuals who completed the survey and received a black QR code will scan that at the kiosk.
  • Conference and venue staff will be at hand to assist with this process.
  • The kiosks will authenticate the QR code and take your temperature.
  • Upon authentication of the QR code and successful temperature screening, a green checkmark will appear on the kiosk screen and the black QR code will turn green.
  • If the QR code is not authenticated, or your temperature is high, a red X will appear on the kiosk screen and your QR code will turn red. If this occurs, a staff member will provide next step details.
  • People who receive the green checkmark will be given a token that will allow access to the venue accreditation office. Accreditation will not be given to anyone without going through the above process.
  • After receiving your event accreditation, you will be required to go through the DetectWise® kiosk temperature screening each time you re-enter the venue.
